Thanks for your comment. I take it as a compliment. If you look back in Jazza’s competition announcement for “new resolutions” he explains that the beginner category is also for those who are new to art. He clarified that if you have been doing art for one or two years and have a polished style then you might belong in the open category. I have been doing art (any kind at all) for less than one year (and only once a week). My only instruction is from YouTube videos and most of my art is not very good, unporpotional, etc. This is the best piece I have ever made and if you notice it’s mostly silhouettes and not actually faces or details. That’s because I can’t actually draw. Also, it is monochrome because I have trouble with color mixing in watercolors. I may have been strategic while composing this piece, but that is why I feel I belong in the beginner category. If Jazza decides otherwise then I’m perfectly fine with that and will gladly move to the open category, but I think his intention was for those new to art as well as kids.
